Kari Redmond | Online TEFL Course Instructor

Kari Redmond | Online TEFL Course Instructor

What's your role at International TEFL Academy?

I have taught the Online TEFL/TESOL Certification Course since August 2017.

What is your educational background?

  • Master's in Education from the University of Colorado

  • Bachelors in English from Colorado State University

  • Certifications: TEFL & Celta

Where have you taught?

USA:

  • I have taught ESL at Colorado State University for 9 years.
  • I have taught Language Arts to high school students at various schools in the states and abroad.

Overseas:

  • ESL in Chile and English as a subject to high school students in Honduras.

What countries have you visited?

I have a goal of traveling to every country in the world. I am currently at 57, so I won’t list all of those. My most recent trip took me to SE Asia where I traveled to Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia.

What's your favorite travel memory?

The moment I stepped foot in Antarctica. A lifetime goal of visiting all seven continents was completed along with my first solo backpacking trip from Santiago, Chile, all the way south.

What advice do you have for ITA students who want to teach English abroad?

Be open to going anywhere. When I got placed in Chile, I honestly knew nothing about it, but I’m so glad I went. I met the best friends and learned about a whole new culture.
