The TEFL Training school in Florence Italy was founded as a language school in 1959 by the United States Information Service and then privatized in the 1960s. It is now one of the leading American English schools in Italy and has received approval from the Ministry of Public Education to teach American English and culture. It is an active member of international organizations such as TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and NAFSA (National Association of Foreign Student Advisors), and it works closely with other American language schools throughout the world.
The American Language Center is located in Piazza della Repubblica, just a short walk from the world-famous Duomo. Our facilities include several multi-purpose classrooms, offices, a library, and a terrace overlooking the historic city center. Satellite TV, computers, and an ESL Library are on the premises.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please be prepared for the intensive nature of this course. It is an intense, full-time university-level course. You will be in class full-time 5 days a week & there is homework as well. To learn more about what this course entails, please see our FAQs below.
* Note about Florence job market: Florence is a moderate-sized city in Italy and while there are language schools that are hiring during the job season (September and January), it is a city with a lot of English teachers which makes it a competitive job market. The rule of thumb, go where the populations are large and standard of living is high. Rome and Milan are where the majority of English teachers work (though there are many cities in Italy for English teaching).
